  1. Awesome. Just awesome.

Er, could I just geek up for a second and ask what font you used for the text...

  2. Skeptobot, the font is Franklin Gothic Extra Condensed. Glad you liked it. Look for a G-rated version for more polite company . . .

  3. Hilarious - will post everywhere I can.

  4. Would you mind me versioning it out with modified text and posting it in places like deviantArt?

I would naturally credit you and link back to here.

  5. Dr. Rachie!!!! I'm a huge fan of The Sceptic Zone! I loved your interview on the last podcast; very cool that you went from designer to scientist. Needless to say, I stopped at designer, but I'll keep doing my best to help stop Tooth Fairy Science.

  6. Godfrey. If you alter it:
    1. Please don't credit me since it will no longer be mine and . . .
    2. Don't include the Institute logo on the bottom.
Other than that, have at it . . .

  10. OMG, I love this. I will be adding this to my anti-herbal, anti-hokum, anti-snake oil collection.

  11. My exact thoughts on this matter in poster form. Sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  12. May I humbly suggest that you engage with an on-line purveyor of T-shirts to make it available in a wearable, machine-washable form?

  13. It also reminded me the "scientific studies" about the ice cristals that listened Mozart's music and became beautiful snowflakes LOL... Does that mean that shit is beautiful when listening to Mozart?

  15. Any chance for a version that doesn't use shit?

    I work with kids, 12 & under.

I'd like a PG-13 version -- poo or poop would be acceptable. Feces is also acceptable and accurate.

The elementary-school set get in trouble for using sh*t at school, but both poo and poop are acceptable, and of course feces is a "science word".

  22. Hey Pareidolius. Cann I ask for Polish version?

    It goes like this:

    Jeśli woda ma pamięć
    to homeopatia jest
    pełna gówna.
    Homeopatia: gówno i cukier.

  25. Homeopathy is evidence based modern medicine for the 21st century

    ReplyDelete
  26. Nancy honey, that sounds like a proverb. Proverbs aren't evidence based.

  27. Awesome poster. Going to post on a homeopathy blog post I'm writing up if you don't mind.

  28. Pareidolius: What rights are attached to this image? Is this in the public domain?

  29. Hi David, Feel free to spread it like the wind. All images on this blog are to be used freely. Please leave them intact with the "Institute's" tagline. Thanks!

  30. without the proper knowledge of homoeopathic ethics..its really sarcastic enough to publish such a blog....its too pathetic for the people who are ignorant abt homoeopathic wonders ...

  31. 'Dr' Malik is a homeopathy pushing quack.

Nancy, nice try at trying to confuse as to the actual meaning of the 'CAM' acronym, which in fact stands for 'Complementary and Alternative Medicine,' aka 'snake oil.'

If homeopathy is evidence-based in Malik's warped little mind, she doesn't have clue #1 what constitutes evidence.

Homeopathy: it's water and sugar, luv.

  32. Dr. Sujo John,
Homeopathic ethics must be really diluted right? So if I only have very infinitesimal amounts of ethics, and I shake it all about by doing, let's say, the Hokey Pokey, then I must become powerfully, homeopathically ethical at that point, right? But seriously, what the fuck is your point? That I don't know anything about homeopathy? Ethics? What is it that is too pathetic? Nevermind, the Englishes are clearly not your first language, so I'll cut you slack on the appalling grammar and assume that you can actually think in your own language.

  33. and they said infinitesimal amounts of phtalates couldnt hurt

  34. Hey! This is brilliant!

  36. Oooooh "Anonymous", burn on me! So brave of you to post without so much as a 'nym. Except that I have facts and science on my side. You have Chairman Mao, fairies and sympathetic magic on yours. Oh, "so-called" and "anti-homeopathy" should be hyphenated.

  37. OH my gosh, so AWESOME! My name is Surly Amy and I make ceramic jewelry inspired by science and skepticism see: http://www.etsy.com/shop/surly?section_id=5265740

Would it be ok if I used just the text to make some of my Surlies? If its cool with you I will send you some!

  38. Oh silly Nancy,

Scientific World Journal was so great that it's now defunct. FAIL

    2. From their summary "However, we found insufficient evidence from these studies that homeopathy is clearly efficacious for any single clinical condition." FAIL

    3. Inconclusive results. FAIL

Homeopathy is on the run in Britain, Australia and now Germany. WIN

  40. Jeepers Nan,

That's a whole lotta sciency references you got there. Problem is that most of them are:
    A. Old,
    B. Biased or Discredited or,
    C. Show only the slightest positive results for homeopathy, well within the range for the placebo effect.

Show me a study where the effect is like administering Acetaminophen, or Lorazipam or Albuterol. That is, you take the drug and bam! Something actually happens. Bronchial dilation occurs. You fall asleep. Fever or swelling reduces . . . every single time. Repeatedly. Over and over again.

When I was into woo and magic medicine, I took homeopathy and was always disappointed. There was never any real relief from whatever I was taking it for. I would rush out and grab oscillococcinum whenever I felt like I was getting flu. I always got flu anyway. It never stopped it. Not once.

That's the kind of results I'm talking about. An effect that happens first time, every time.

  41. Heard a Super quote from Robin Ince on 'The Infinite Monkey Cage' on BBC R4 - 'Homoeopaths do not have a physical brain, just 'Brain Water' with a memory of Brains! laughed my socks off!
